Presentations
Presentations on your phone
The DataSquares app reads decks as the web does: each figure is computed for you, with your own data access, when you open its slide. Nothing on the phone is a picture of someone else’s numbers. Presentations shows in the Library when your company has presentations turned on.
Presentations shows in the app’s Library when Presentations is on for your company and you can open a deck: your role can view presentations, or a deck is shared with you.
Find a deck
Section titled “Find a deck”Library, then Presentations, lists the decks you can open. Search by title, and choose All, Shared with me or Favorites. Each deck says whether it is a Draft or Frozen for a meeting, when it was last presented (or published) and who owns it. Load more shows the next page.
Use as a remote, at the top of the list, pairs the phone with a presenting screen: see Use your phone as a remote.
Read a deck
Section titled “Read a deck”Swipe to move between slides. The line at the top says where you are and what the numbers are:
- 3 of 12 · Live · data through 23 Oct 2026: the values are computed now; data through is the oldest date the slide’s figures have data for.
- Frozen for Leadership review, 24 Oct: a frozen deck shows the values it was frozen with. When those were prepared with access other than yours, the slide reads them live for you instead and says Live values: the frozen ones were prepared with other access.
- Draft · figures unchecked: you are reading the draft, whose figures have not passed the publish check.
Under it, the slide says the access its figures were read with (Read with your access: EMEA only (Region)) and how many it has that you can’t see (2 figures aren’t available with your access).
Choose Slide or Reading:
- Slide draws the slide in the deck’s own style, colours and fonts, scaled to the phone.
- Reading reflows the slide into a column in the app’s own type, in reading order: headings and text with their live numbers, each KPI with its value and what it is compared with, each chart, table and dashboard visual as one line a row (a table its top rows, Top 10 of 512), and each picture by its alt text. It reads well with large text and a screen reader.
The Android app draws bar, column, line, area, pie and donut charts. Other charts show their rows instead, marked Shown as a list on phones. An element the app doesn’t know yet says so (This version of the app can’t show it); nothing on a slide is left out without a word.
A figure you can’t see shows a dash and says why, as on the web: This figure isn’t available with your access, This figure comes from a saved query, which readers under row security don’t see, What this figure was bound to has been removed, This figure’s source can no longer be read or This figure could not be computed. A figure whose source failed keeps its last good value, marked Could not refresh · shows its last value.
The app reads the slide you are on and the one after it. If a slide’s values can’t be read, it says so and offers Retry.
A figure’s source
Section titled “A figure’s source”Tap a figure, in either view, for its Source: Certified when it is, the value Shown as, what it is Compared with, its Period, where it comes from (a Metric, Model measure or Saved query, with its version), Data through (and Not final when its period isn’t complete), its Filters, Your access (Not narrowed, or what narrowed it), and when it was read. Others may see less means its source has row security or masking; Cut short means not every row was read.
Comments
Section titled “Comments”Comments shows the slide’s open comments and those on the whole presentation, as the web has them, however many there are. With Can comment or more on the deck (see Roles), Comment on this slide adds one; anyone else reads them. A comment that wasn’t sent stays in the box, and the app never sends it again by itself.
Offline
Section titled “Offline”The app keeps the last three decks you read, with the values you saw, for your account and workspace. Without a connection, opening one of them shows it with Offline · showing what you last read and when you read it, and the line at the top says Saved · read 3 hours ago where it would say Live (a frozen deck still says Frozen for its meeting); slides you didn’t open then have no values. Nothing kept offline is shown as live, and a kept deck can’t be presented.
Kept decks belong to your account and workspace: another account or workspace on the phone never sees them, and signing out removes them.
Present from your phone
Section titled “Present from your phone”Present presents the deck on the phone itself, full screen, for a small room or a screen the phone is connected to. As on the web, choose:
- Meeting (optional) — its name; What is shown to a meeting is recorded with its values. Start presenting.
- Rehearse (not recorded) — A rehearsal records nothing.
The phone presents the published version; a deck never published is presented as its draft, by its contributors, editors and owner, and its figures say Unchecked: this draft has not passed the publish check. Anyone else sees A draft is presented by its editors and contributors.
Tap the slide or swipe left for the next slide; tap its left third or swipe right for the one before. The bar at the bottom has the slide number, Previous slide, Next slide, Recording · Leadership review, 24 Oct or Rehearsal · not recorded, and Exit. The screen stays on while you present.
Values stay put for the session: each slide’s values are read when it first shows and kept, the next slide’s are read ahead, and a slide whose figures can’t be read keeps what it showed. Exit ends the session; what was shown to a meeting is in its records.
