Workspace tools on the phone

Workspace tools brings the web app’s data, operations and administration pages to the phone. Each page is the web page’s own data, behind the same menu permission: you see a page when your role may open it in the web app, and you can do on it what your role may do there. Open it from the Account tab: the Workspace tools row (“Data sources, models, SQL, data quality, logs, recovery and administration”) sits under your workspace.

The pages are grouped as on the web.

Group Pages
Data Data sources, Data models, SQL, Data quality, Catalog, Blends, Warehouse
Operations Logs, Recovery center, Pipelines, Experience, Compute, AI escalations
Administration Users, Invites, Groups, Roles, Workspaces, API keys, Audit log, Usage, Menu permissions, Workspace settings, Deployment license and the billing pages: Billing, Plans, Subscriptions, Payment methods, Billing details, AI credits

The list holds only the pages your role may open:

  • A company admin sees every page.
  • Anyone else sees the pages whose menu their role may view. Menu permissions, Workspace settings and Compute are for company admins only.
  • Warehouse shows when your licence includes the Warehouse.
  • A role with none of these pages sees “Your role has no data or administration pages.”

Which pages a role sees is set per company in Menu permissions, so your company’s roles can differ from the demo company’s. Roles on the phone shows what each demo account gets, page by page.

  • The list. A page shows its figures at the top (scores, balances, limits), then its rows. “3 of 3 shown” counts them; a Search box appears when the list is long. “Nothing here yet.” means the list is empty.
  • One item. Tap a row for its details and its own lists (a model’s tables, a group’s members, a pipeline’s recent runs).
  • Actions. What may be done to an item (Restore, Run now, Deactivate, Make default and so on) appears on it only when your role allows it. Every action asks first, and Keep leaves things as they are. When it is done, the page says so (“Restored.”, “Run started.”) and shows the item as it is now, or closes it when the item leaves the list. If the server refuses (someone claimed it first, it changed since you opened it), the page says why and reads the item again.
  • Edit. Pages with their own settings (Billing details, Workspace settings) have Edit at the top. Leaving the form with changes asks Discard changes?. If someone else saved since you opened it, saving tells you and shows what is saved now, so nothing is overwritten.
  • Refresh at the top reads the page again.
  • Continue on the web. Where a page has more on the web (the visual query builder, building a blend, buying a plan), it ends with a note and Continue on the web, which opens that page of the web app in your browser.

The server checks every call. If it refuses, the page says why:

Message What it means
Your role doesn’t allow this. Your role lacks the menu permission, or it changed since you opened the page.
This is no longer here. The item was deleted or moved.
You’re offline. Check your connection and try again. No connection.
Too many requests. Wait a minute, then try again. Too many calls in a short time.
Your session ended. Sign in again. Sign in again from Account.
DataSquares couldn’t do this right now. Try again in a few minutes. A server problem.

A refusal from the server can carry its own words instead, such as a licence message. See Troubleshooting.
