KPI
Indicator · One number that matters, with trend
Added from Insert on the editor’s rail; configure it in Card settings, in its Data and Format tabs.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”The headline number: big value, delta vs the previous period, optional sparkline. Rows of KPIs across the top are how most dashboards open — the KPI row block places three at once.
Field wells

Click a field in the Fields list, or drop it on the chart, and it goes to the well that fits it — see where a field goes. To choose the well yourself, drop the field on it or use its + Add field.
Measure wells carry a quick-calc dropdown (running total, YoY %, % of total, …); SquareX measures are listed with the fields, under Measures.

- With no rows for its filters — or no value in any of them — a KPI on a dashboard or in a report says No data for these filters under its title instead of a 0 that would read as a real zero. A gauge does the same; a count of nothing is still 0.
- A KPI the AI assistant builds compares periods: its latest whole period (this month so far is never set against a whole month) against the one before — or the same period last year, or a target you give — with a sparkline of whole periods, and the line under its title names the period and what it is compared with — in reports, and in the PDF, PowerPoint and HTML exports, which print it under the value. The Android app shows its latest period, which may still be filling.
