Geo · Values by country
Added from Insert on the editor’s rail; configure it in Card settings, in its Data and Format tabs.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”A choropleth — regions shaded by value. DataSquares picks the map from your location data — world countries, US states, or one country’s states and provinces (240 countries) — or you can pin world or US states in Format → Map. Geography as the primary lens: where, not just how much.
Field wells
Section titled “Field wells”| Well | Accepts | Notes |

Click a field in the Fields list, or drop it on the chart, and it goes to the well that fits it — see where a field goes. To choose the well yourself, drop the field on it or use its + Add field.
Measure wells carry a quick-calc dropdown (running total, YoY %, % of total, …); SquareX measures are listed with the fields, under Measures.
Format options that matter here
Section titled “Format options that matter here”- Location level — Auto-detect, World — countries, or US states
- Allow pan & zoom — off locks the viewport where you framed it
- Show color scale, with an optional min/max range (blank = derived from the data)
- Show unmatched-locations notice — the notice described below

- Names are matched loosely: case, accents, punctuation, hyphens and a leading “the” are all ignored, and the common aliases resolve —
USA,UK,Czech Republic,Viet Nam,Russian Federation,Korea, South,Türkiye. - One row can name several countries. A value like
United States, India(comma, semicolon or pipe) credits its full value to each country listed — it is not split between them. - US states resolve by name or postal code (
California,TX). The map switches to US states by itself when state data dominates; pin it with Location level if the guess is wrong. - States and provinces of any other country draw that country’s map when most of the locations belong to it —
Maharashtra,Karnatakadraw India;BavariaorBayern,ONorOntarioresolve too (official names, common alternates, postal and ISO 3166-2 codes). This is the map a Country → State drill lands on. Boundaries: Natural Earth 1:10m. - Rows that match nothing are counted in a notice on the card — click it to see exactly which values didn’t bind, then fix them at the source or filter them out.
- If nothing matches at all (sales regions like “East”/“West”, say), the card tells you so instead of drawing an empty world.
